Catherine Anderson is the winner of the 2025 Birdy Poetry Prize with Meadowlark Press for her book of poems, Afloat. She has published four other collections: Everyone I Love Immortal, Woman with a Gambling Mania, The Work of Hands, and In the Mother Tongue, as well as a memoir, My Brother Speaks in Dreams: Of Family, Beauty & Belonging. Catherine has been recognized for her poetry by the Massachusetts Artists’ Foundation, and included in the Southern Humanities Review, the I-70 Review, the Crab Orchard Review, and other journals. She lives in Kansas City, where she has worked for more than 20 years, assisting new immigrants and refugees to become skilled interpreters.
