Sass-a-Brass, founded in 2018, is Kansas City’s only queer street parade brass band. They bring the party with a mix of HONK-style activist street-band energy and influences from the New Orleans Mardi Gras and second-line tradition. Sass-a-Brass intentionally recruits amateur, multigenerational, and nontraditional players. Look (and listen) for them inside and outside the Central Library — and along the KC Streetcar Line.
